Headwaters Trail Runs 10k/30k/50k

Headwaters offers three race distance: 50k, 30k, and 10k. These races are held in the Klamath Mountains west of Mount Shasta City, CA. These scenic trail runs are named after the headwaters of the Sacramento River.

The 50k and 30k races are scenic, mountainous loop courses with approximately 5600' and 3200' of gain, respectively. They are run entirely on single-track trails and dirt forest roads that traverse through the rugged mountains that claim host to the crystal-clear headwaters of California's longest river. The 10k race is a flat, fast loop on the lake trail that circles the forested shores of picturesque Lake Siskiyou.

The magnificent backdrop for both runs is the majestic Mt. Shasta (14,179' elev.), the most massive of all the Cascade volcanoes. Runners are rewarded with clean mountain air, challenging terrain, welcoming aid stations, and an enthusiastic volunteer staff.

The Headwaters Trail Runs 50k, 30k, and 10k races meet or exceed the event criteria set forth by the American Trail Running Association's (ATRA) Events Standards Program.

New for 2019: Headwaters Trail Runs will be a cupless event. The decision to be a cupless event is an effort to reduce the paper and plastic waste generated by the event. Runners will need to carry with them a water bottle, collapsible cup, or other means to receive drink aid at the aid stations.
